Crowns and Bridges
Crowns are an ideal restoration for teeth which have been broken, or have been weakened by decay or a very large filling. The crown fits right over the remaining part of the tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape and contour of a natural tooth. Crowns can also be known as caps. In the event that a tooth needs a root canal, it may be necessary to restore the tooth with a crown. This is done to prevent future fracture of a tooth that has had a root canal. A dental bridge does exactly what the word implies: it bridges across an empty space with the use of a few crowns fixed together. A fixed bridge is anchored from one strong tooth to another and fills the gap that was left by the missing tooth (or teeth). It is a restoration which is permanently cemented and is not removable like a partial.

Porcelain Veneers
Dental veneers (sometimes called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are thin,

custom-made shells of tooth-colored porcelain designed to cover the front surface of your teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are permanently bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size or length. Dental veneers can be made from porcelain or from resin composite materials. Porcelain veneers resist stains better than resin veneers, better mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth, and can be stronger than resin veneers.

Root Canal Therapy
Root canal treatment is the removal of the tooth's pulp, a small, thread-like tissue in the center of the tooth which consists of nerves and blood vessels. A root canal treatment becomes necessary when the pulp of the tooth is damaged beyond its ability to heal. This could be from a cavity, fracture, or traumatic blow to the tooth. Once the damaged, diseased or dead pulp is removed, the remaining space is cleaned, shaped and filled. This procedure seals off the root canal. Years ago, teeth with diseased or injured pulps were removed. Today, root canal treatment saves many teeth that would otherwise be lost. In many cases after a tooth receives a root canal treatment it becomes necessary to restore the tooth with a crown.

Whitening
Tooth whitening is a procedure that lightens teeth and helps to remove stains and discoloration. Whitening is among the most popular cosmetic dental procedures because it can significantly improve the appearance of your teeth at much less cost and inconvenience than other techniques. The majority of dentists perform tooth whitening. Every day, a thin coating forms on your teeth and it picks up stains. Also, the outer layer of each tooth, called the enamel, contains pores that can hold stains. Whitening is not a one-time solution. It will need to be repeated periodically if you want to maintain the brighter color.

Prevention of Gum Disease
Periodontal (gum) diseases, including gingivitis and periodontitis, are serious infections that, if left untreated, can lead to tooth loss. The word periodontal literally means "around the tooth." Periodontal disease is a chronic bacterial infection that affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth. Periodontal disease can affect one tooth or many teeth. It begins when the bacteria in plaque (the sticky, colorless film that constantly forms on your teeth) causes the gums to become inflamed. As it progresses it can lead to gingivitis and periodontitis. The latter can lead to recession of the gums and possibly much worse. Scaling and root planing (also known as a “deep cleaning”) may be necessary along with possible surgery from a specialist.
